I spent summers working at a fishing lodge on Vancouver Island during university. Years later, that experience still surfaces in unexpected ways.I needed a bar cart but didn’t want something generic. I designed one inspired by vintage sardine can graphics, swapping out sardines for fish I actually like. Created the designs in Illustrator, printed them for matte medium transfer onto the cart, then hand-painted the remaining details. A functional piece of furniture became a way to carry a piece of my past into my space. Sometimes the best personal projects are the ones that solve a practical need while scratching a creative itch you didn’t know was there.
