I hate overhead lighting. That aversion pushed me to get creative with lamps. I took an old skateboard, matte medium, paint markers, pages from a vintage Playboy magazine, and IKEA light strips. The result: a custom lamp that solves my lighting problem while scratching my mixed media itch.
